Flemming Mathiasen

Levnedsbeskrivelse:
Flemming Mathiasen var ombord på Niels Ebbesen som officers messegast i perioden fra december 1962 til skibet blev oplagt i marts 1963, hvorefter han blev overført til Kongsøre. Her havde han både funktion som officers-messegast og trænede med søværnet på at forbedre sin svømning. Efter ærefuld afmønstring fra Kongsøre, blev Flemming Mathiasen overført til et konstabelprogram på Københavns Rådhus, hvor han fuldførte den af søværnet påkrævede svømmeprøve. Mens Flemming Mathiasen ventede på at genmønstre i Kongsøre, besluttede han sig for at se verden og flyttede til Canada i oktober 1964; her oplevede han, at der fandtes muligheder, der endnu ikke eksisterede i Danmark. Efter kort tids arbejde som bager blev han forfremmet til øverste chef for det største bageri i Canada. I denne stilling var Flemming Mathiasen i 1966  medvirkende til at skabe den største, stadigt eksisterende, messe for bagere og bagværk, der har deltagelse af mere end 15.000 bagere og industrifolk fra både Canada, USA og Europa. Flemming Mathiasen har både forfattet adskillige artikler, der er blevet trykt i industrimagasiner og tidsskrifter, samt været med til at udvikle den nationale bageruddannelse, der stadig bruges i Canada i dag. I 1970 fik Flemming Mathiasen muligheden for at undervise på bageruddannelsen, hvor han deltog i udviklingen af et undervisningsprogram, der bruges på bageruddannelsen på mere end 20 tekniske colleges i Canada i dag. Flemming fandt sin niche i undervisningen af de 14 – 21 årige og tog over tid adskillige kurser indenfor undervisning samt 3 college-grader (BA. B,ed. M.Ed.). Efter 29 år som lærer, hvor han stod I spidsen for mere end 30 undervisningsprogrammer og 10 programmer for nyligt indvandrede canadiere, trak Flemming Mathiasen sig tilbage fra lærergerningen i 1998 som teknisk direktør. I 1999 startede Flemming Mathiasen et konsulentbureau, CANBAKE, der har specialiseret sig i at hjælpe mellemstore virkomheder, der har behov for at udvikle deres ledelses- eller tekniske afdelinger. Flemming arbejder stadig på at videreudvikle CANBAKE. Flemming Mathiasen er gift, har 2 døtre og 5 børnebørn som han nyder at tilbringe tid sammen med I sin selvbyggede skovhytte, hvor de sejler kano, fisker og har det sjovt sammen. Ud over at have bygget sit hus I skoven, har Flemming selv bygget 2 huse til familien, det sidste har de boet i de seneste 3 år. Ud over at rejse og tilbringe tid med familien, er Flemming for tiden aktiv i Canadian Legion, som er en organisation for canadiske, britiske og amerikanske veteraner, hvor Flemming arbejder på at hjælpe dem med at vende tilbage til det civile liv – eller som hans hustru, Janet, udtrykker det, så bruger han organisationen som et sted, hvor han kan snakke og spille spil for at undgå hjemmets pligter. Flemming indrømmer dog, at det har taget lidt tid at vænne sig til de britske militære traditioner, som organisationen bygger på.

Flemming ville rigtig gerne have besøg af Maritime Venner og organisere ture for foreningen.

  Flemming Mathiasen joined Niels Ebbesen December 1962 as a officer Mess Steward until the ship was decommissioned in March 1963. After Niels Ebbesen he was Transferred to Kongsoere as a Officer Steward and was allowed to train with the navy Seals while he improved his swimming. Upon his Honourable discharge he was transferred into the constable program at Copenhagen’s City Hall and completed his swimming qualification as required by the navy. While waiting to hear about a placement at Kongsoere. He decided to see the world and moved to Canada in October 1964 While in Canada he discovered opportunities that did not exist in Denmark at the time. Working as a bake, he was in short time promoted into senior management of the largest bakery in Canada and in 1966 he assisted in developing the largest baking show still in existence today, drawing more than 15,000 baker and Industry personal from North America, Canada and Europe. He is and Author having being part of developing a national Baking Course still used today by Baking Personal . and have several journals and articles published by Industry associations and Magazine. In 1970 Flemming was given the opportunities to teach baking  in a Vocational School and help develop a Baking Training program similar as you would know in Denmark. That today is offered as an apprenticeship program used in 20 colleges in Canada. Finding his nice within teaching, dealing with student from the age of 14 to 21 he completed numerous teaching certificate while also completing 3 academic degrees  a BA. B,ed. M.Ed. After 29 years of teaching High School. he retire in 1998 as a technical director looking after 30 technical programs and 10 special needs curriculums many designed to integrate new Canadians into the Canadian Society. In 1999 he started his consultant program CANBAKe specializing,  as one or last stop for mid size baking companies or related companies in order to solve their management problems whether Technical or Human, sourcing out new equipment , developing new types of products or techniques in  order to make the company more profitable.  Flemming is slowly winding up this company . Flemming is married and has 2 daughters and 5 grandchildren whom he enjoy spending time with at their cottage, teaching them sailing canoeing ,fishing and just having fun. He build his own Cabin in the wood, House and has lived in the second house he build for the last 3 yeras. Flemmings focus these days besides travelling and family is to the Canadian legion( Canadian, British and USA Veterans Organization ) where he facilitates and helps veterans dealing with problems they may encounter moving back into Civil Life , or as his wife Janet says just tries to escape his chores playing games or chat. He frilly admits it has taken him a bit of time to get used to the British Military Tradition this whole organization is build upon. He would love to have Maritime Venner come and visit him and organize some tour on their behalf
